BbLearn allows you to write questions offline in a text file and upload information technology into tests, surveys, and question pools. The Built-in method they provide is outlined in detail on Blackboard's Assist Site. An Alternative method is outlined below.

OVERVIEW

• Oklahoma Christian University's Blackboard Test Generator
• Available question types: multiple choice, multiple answer, true/false, essay, fill in the blank, and matching.
• Create a document with nothing but the Questions and Answers you wish to import into BbLearn: no titles/headers, no descriptions, no point values, etc. Refer to the Question Format shown below for exact formatting requirements.
• If you lot are using Microsoft Give-and-take, save your questions using File > Salvage As > Manifestly Text (.txt). Note: If you lot are using a MAC, be sure to select the following additional settings: a) MS-DOS, b) UNCHECK Select insert line breaks, c) CR / LF, d) CHECK Allow character commutation
• Open the .txt file version of your questions in Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).

Convert Questions

The Oklahoma Christian University has created a tool for converting text documents into Blackboard question pools and have graciously made the tool available to the world.

• In Notepad/TextEdit Copy your questions and answers.
• Launch the Test Generator, so enter a Test Name.
• Paste your questions into the test generator text box.
• Verify the pasted text shown in the text box has just one blank line between each question and no blank lines between the answers. Delete whatsoever unwanted line spaces plant.
• Printing Generate Test Questions.
• The Exam Generator will tell you how many questions information technology converted at the bottom of the screen.
  Note: Make sure that the number of questions information technology thinks you lot submitted matches the number of questions submitted. If not, the text document needs further edits.
• The Test Generator offers two file format options for importing questions into BbLearn:
  • OPTION 1: Press the "Download Test Questions" to download a file.txt containing your questions. The .txt file created by this option is formatted to work with the Upload Questions button bachelor when editing a Question Pool or a Examination.
  • OPTION 2: Press "Download Question Puddle" to download a file.zip containing your questions. The file created by this option is formated to work with the Import Pool button available when viewing the list of Pools in a course. Annotation: If you are using the browser Safari, it may be setup to automatically open up zip files, which in this case will unzip the file making it useless for your needs. Before pressing "Download Question Pool" to download the ZIP file, verify your Safari settings are correct by clicking Preferences and making sure the selection Open "prophylactic" files subsequently downloading is unchecked. Alternatively, use a different browser to run the Exam Generator and download the Zero file.

Import Questions into BbLearn (using the .txt file format)

• Under your courses Control Panel, expand Form Tools.
• Click on Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
• Select Pools.
• Edit one of your existing Pools past clicking on its pick icon and pressing Edit.
• Select Upload Questions.
• Browse to locate the .txt file you saved to your computer in the previous footstep (Option 1).

Import Question Puddle into BbLearn (using the .zip file format)

• Under your courses Command Panel, expand Grade Tools.
• Click on Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
• Select Pools.
• Click on the Import Pool push button.
• Browse to locate the .null file you saved to your calculator in the previous step (Pick 2).

• After successfully importing the questions, you may edit them via BbLearn to setup additional features not available through the import process. (e.g. prove answers in a random order, assign letter designations to answers)
